Josh McDaniels Talks About Davante Adams' Leadership
Undoubtedly, the Las Vegas Raiders are fortunate to have a veteran wide receiver like Davante Adams. He is entering his ninth season as a wide receiver in the NFL and second with the Silver and Black.
Last season, Adams put up 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns during his first year with the Raiders.
Even though Adams is still relatively new to the Raiders, he brings a critical leadership and mentality to the expansive receivers room and the entire team.
During the Raiders' joint practices with the San Francisco 49ers, Adams ended the practices by sustaining a minor leg injury. There were questions about whether the Raiders would play him for joint practices against the Rams this week before kicking off their second preseason game.
However, Adams did play against the Rams in joint practices, once again showing the mentality and leadership he brings to the Silver and Black.
Second-year Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels had the opportunity to share with the media after the second joint practice with the Rams the leadership and mentality Adams brings to the Silver and Black.
"Yeah, he's a tough guy," McDaniels said. "He doesn't miss much time and hasn't missed much time ever. In my experience with him, he doesn't miss any time on the practice field, and he's played in every game. That's their job; they know it.
"Davante is a great example for everybody of a guy who wants to go out here and compete against different competition, wants to get better, wants to improve. He made a lot of good plays yesterday, but it doesn't shock me at all that he would do that."
All eyes are on Adams entering the 2023-24 NFL season as he plays his second year with the Raiders.
The Silver and Black open the regular season at the Denver Broncos on Sunday, September 10, at 4:25 p.m. EDT/1:25 p.m. PDT.
