Maxx Crosby vs Patrick Mahomes Has Become a Rivalry
There is no doubt that the Las Vegas Raiders and Kanas City Chiefs have one of the biggest rivalries in all of the NFL.
Two players on have started a rivalry against each other and they are Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
This Week 16 game oOn Christmas Day will be the 10 time Crosby and Mahomes will go head-to-head.
Crosby has 19 solo tackles, 12 assists and 5.0 sacks in nine games against the Chiefs, while Mahomes has a passer rating of 113.5 with 3,338 yards, 29 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 11 games against the Raiders.
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy had the chance to speak to the media this week about the rivalry that has formed between Crosby and Mahomes.
"It's been fun to be a part of the last couple years," Nagy said. "I can remember Maxx when he was coming out of college and just seeing who he was and how he played then, a little smaller at the time and now he's put on some weight and strength and confidence, and played great.
"So, I think you see two competitors who are at the top of the league at their positions and on their side of the ball. There's definitely a mutual respect between the two but when you get between those lines on game day, none of it's ever personal. I think it's cool to be on the sideline and see the fire they have, but then also be on the field after the game to see the mutual respect that they have for one another."
Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck also had the opportunity to speak about Crosby this week.
"Maxx Crosby is as good as he is," Heck said. "He's as disruptive as there is. You can see it on their defense that they're playing hard, with heart. Coach has them going now. Then you have mixed into that whole Chiefs-Raiders rivalry thing. So, it's going to be a great challenge for us."
