Daniel Carlson, One of the Best Kickers in the NFL
The Raiders are fortunate to have had great kickers throughout the franchise's history. A current Raider kicker is one of the best in the NFL and will eventually finish as a phenomenal kicker for the Raiders franchise.
Daniel Carlson has proven himself to be one of the best kickers in the National Football League. He was the second-best kicker statistically last NFL season behind Baltimore Ravens All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker.
Carlson is coming off a great 2022-23 NFL season. He finished the season, having made 91.9 percent of his field goal attempts, making 34 field goals.
In addition, Carlson kicked the longest field goal of his career last season, from 57 yards. He got the opportunity to break his record and then tie it last season. He kicked one from 57 yards on Week 11 against the Denver Broncos as the Raiders won 22-16. He also kicked one from 57 yards on Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers, who ended up winning 37-34.
Daniel Carlson went a perfect nine-for-nine on field goals from 20-29 yards last season. He also went a perfect 11-for-11 on all field goals from 30-39 yards. Carlson finished last season going three-for-four on field goals from 40-49 yards and went 11-for-13 on field goals from 50-59 yards.
Carlson has kicked in 78 games in his career with the Raiders. He has made 143 field goals and 168 extra points and has a career-made kicking percentage of 88 percent. He is entering his seventh season as an All-Pro kicker and will undoubtedly be listed as one of the best kickers again this upcoming NFL season.
Here is what Daniel Carlson said to the Media about improving and being an All-Pro Kicker for the Raiders.
“Yeah, there's always room for improvement. I missed kicks last year," Carlson said. "There's room for improvement in a lot of different areas. Just like any other player, each day at practice, each day in the offseason, I'm trying to get better, and especially in the offseason I get the chance to kick more because I don't have to be so fresh for a game coming up, or something. So, I think this is a great time for me to push myself, get a lot of reps, whether it be with (long snapper) Jacob (Bobenmoyer) or just by myself, figuring out my muscle memory and my technique, and hopefully just continuing to improve on something I hopefully have been doing well the last few years. But like I said, the goal is always perfection. I may not ever get there, but that's always going to be the goal each season.”
