Kolton Miller: Driven to Cement Elite OT Status
Kolton Miller has been Las Vegas' franchise left tackle since he was drafted in 2018. Miller has been one of the better tackles in the NFL, but this season, Kolton has taken things to the next level.
Miller has only allowed one quarterback pressure in 54 pass-blocking snaps through two games. Last week against Buffalo, Miller led the Raiders offensive' line in both pass and run blocking grades, respectively.
Although he has done well, the offensive line as a whole didn't do as well last week. Miller, the leader of the offensive line, shared how important it is that the entire offensive line is in sync.
"We're all on the same page," Miller said. "Communication is key. It was a little loud last week but still, we have to get our communication right and blocks right."
Miller says the entire offensive line will have to focus more next week, to avoid another game like last week.
"Increase the focus, spend extra time after meetings and before, to get dialed in," Miller told Sports Illustrated. "I think having a more focused look, as well as firing off the ball, etc. We just need to get it going. Make the looks clean and Josh (Jacobs) will make his cuts."
Miller shared making the jump from an excellent tackle to an elite tackle has been a product of his focus. Miller has been working extra hours studying film and working on his technique.
His production, so far this season, speaks for itself. He hasn't allowed a sack or been penalized at all this season.
"Focus day to day, not getting to high or too low," Miller said. "You can only control how much you put in each day. So, you just build off of that every day."
The Raiders will play their first home game Sunday night against Pittsburgh the Steelers, making Miller and the rest of the offensive line's jobs much more manageable.
"I'm excited," Miller said. "We haven't played at home in a while. I'm excited to be back here. The East Coast is cool and all, but we have to make some hay here at home. We have a lot of things we want to do and we have this game to prove it."
Tonight, the Raiders offensive line, will have to prove last week was an anomaly.
The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8:20 p.m. EDT/5:20 p.m. PDT.
