Raiders Sign Another Former Patriot Wide Receiver
The Las Vegas Raiders have added yet another former New England Patriot to their roster.
The club reported on Monday that it has signed free-agent wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson.
Wilkerson, a 26-year-old wideout from Southeast Missouri State, spent his first two active NFL seasons in New England, having made a total of four game appearances, including one start in the 2021-22 season. He was signed to New England's practice squad after being waived by the Tennessee Titans, who had signed him as an undrafted free agent.
The receiver played both seasons in New England under Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels, who was the Patriots' offensive coordinator at the time.
Wilkerson saw the field only twice on offense in his rookie season (2020-21) but developed into a bigger role the following year. He posted 42 yards and two touchdowns on only four receptions in the 2021 season.
Wilkerson would be placed on the injured/reserve list at the end of training camp last year after sustaining a concussion in a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. He was waived by New England in February before being picked up by the Indianapolis Colts the following day.
Wilkerson then declared free agency in March.
The new Raiders receiver will join two other former Patriot wideouts, Jakobi Meyers and Phillip Dorsett, both of whom were signed this offseason as well.
Las Vegas also announced it has released wide receiver Tyler Johnson. The Raiders signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract back in January.
The former fifth-round pick out of Minnesota played two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was a part of the 2021 Super Bowl team. He then had a one-year stint with the Houston Texans before he was waived by the club back in October.
Johnson would be signed to Tampa Bay's practice squad yet again but then released in January.
The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:
OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15
Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
