Raiders Might Face New-Looked QB on Thursday

The Las Vegas Raiders might face a Los Angeles Chargers quarterback not named Justin Herbert on Thursday night.

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. They now put the disappointing loss behind them, prepare on a short week, and go head-to-head in an AFC West game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night.

This will be the second game the Raiders will play against the Chargers this season. In Week 4, the Chargers beat the Silver and Black, 24-17, at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

There will likely be a different quarterback under center on Thursday night for the Chargers as Justin Herbert sustained a broken right index finger on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

If Herbert does not play on Thursday, he will snap his 62-game starting streak, the second-longest current streak for an NFL quarterback.

If Herbert does not play, Chargers' second-string quarterback Easton Stick will be the starter and will be making his first career NFL start.

The former North Dakota State Bison quarterback was selected 166th overall by the Chargers in the 2019 NFL Draft. During his time with the Bison, Stick had a 49-3 record as the starter. He also is North Dakota State's all-time leader in with 8,693 passing yards and 88 touchdowns.

Stick has played in 13 preseason games since 2019, completing 134-of-217 passes for 1,175 yards and four touchdowns. He also can be a threat on the ground, as he has rushed for 199 yards and five touchdowns in his preseason career.

When taking over late in the second quarter against the Broncos, Stick completed 13-of-24 passes for 179 yards without a touchdown or an interceptions.

The Raiders (5-8) look to end their three-game losing streak on Thursday night in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Silver and Black will turn around quickly and host their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, on Thursday, December 14, at 8:15 p.m. EST/5:15 p.m. PST.
