The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to put a disappointing 2022 season behind them as they turn their attention to the 2023 season.

This comes after General Manager Dave Ziegler and Coach Josh McDaniels retooled the roster to better fit what they are used to from their winning days with the New England Patriots.

In a month and a half, the Raiders will begin cutting down their roster to get to 53 players, and that means several players on the roster are going to be fighting for a spot.

Let’s take a closer look at some players on offense who must have a good season in 2023 to determine their spot on the roster going into next offseason.

Wide Receiver Keelan Cole Sr. -- Throughout his career, Cole has been an underrated third or fourth receiving option. He joined the Raiders last season after being on the practice squad to begin the year.

Cole caught onlyt 10 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown, and with all the acquisitions the Raiders made at wide receiver this offseason, could find himself as the odd man out. Cole will have to rediscover the player he was a few seasons ago if he wants to find himself off the roster bubble next offseason.

Guard Alex Bars -- Bars had the lowest individual Pro Football Focus grade of all the starting offensive linemen in 2022, but the Raiders re-signed him to a one-year contract.

This contract was essentially a “prove-it” deal, as Bars will have to improve on his rough 2022 season if he wants to find his way back on the Raiders beyond 2023. The offensive line around him was impressive, which could help his case going into the season.

Wide Receiver DeAndre Carter -- Carter has been a journeyman wide receiver throughout his career, never spending more than three seasons with one team.

Carter has the chance to become a mainstay for the Raiders with great special teams play, which is what they brought him in to do. If Carter is returning kicks and punts, and setting the offense up in favorable positions, he could find himself on the Raiders beyond 2023.
