Free Agent Marcus Peters Visited Raiders Monday
After what has been a promising offseason of improvement within the Las Vegas Raiders' secondary, General Manager Dave Ziegler and the rest of the front office don't seem to be done.
Vic Tafur of The Athletic reported Monday that the club hosted free agent cornerback Marcus Peters for a visit.
Peters, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro honoree, has most recently spent two-plus seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
Last season, Peters started in all 13 games he appeared in, registering 47 tackles, two for losses, a sack, and an interception.
The veteran cornerback has led the league in yards from interception returns in three of his seven active seasons (2015, 2017, 2019).
That 2015 season was Peters' rookie campaign, in which he put the league on notice with a league-leading eight interceptions and a league-leading 26 passes defensed as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. He returned two of those interceptions into touchdowns. Peters would earn himself Defensive Rookie of the Year honors for his exceptional first year.
The Chiefs selected Peters with the 18th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Since then, the cornerback played three seasons in Kansas City and played 22 games for the Los Angeles Rams before he was traded to Baltimore in the 2019 season.
Overall, Peters has totaled 346 tackles, eight for losses, two sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries, 32 interceptions, six touchdowns and 822 yards returned from interceptions.
He has finished top-10 in the league in interceptions in five seasons, top-10 in yards returned from interceptions in four seasons, top-10 in non-offensive touchdowns in four seasons, top-10 in interceptions returned for touchdowns in three seasons, and top-10 in passes defensed in two seasons.
Peters missed the 2021 season after tearing an ACL in practice just days before Baltimore's season opener against the Raiders.
He declared free agency back on March 13.
The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:
OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15
Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
