Longtime Las Vegas Raiders franchise quarterback Derek Carr’s time in the Silver and Black, is ending after nine years.

Carr might no longer be teammates with some of the players in the Raiders locker room very soon, but the relationships he formed with them will last a lifetime.

Defensive end Maxx Crosby is one of those players who spoke to “Pro Bowl Live” on SiriusXM NFL Radio about his relationship with Carr and what it will look like next season without him.

“The whole situation was tough,” Crosby said. “Any time you lose a teammate or someone walks out the door, you feel a certain way, and that’s the emotional part of the game. But at the end of the day, the NFL is a billion-dollar business. Everyone understands that.

“I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of teammates. I’ve had guys who were my boy, and then boom, I come back the next day and he’s gone, and that’s the rough part about it. Obviously, with DC, it’s a different type of situation. He’s the quarterback, me and him have been boys since day one, so I have that emotional part of it.”

Crosby also said that losing Carr hurts will force him to step into the bigger leadership role that Carr held for his entire career with the Raiders. When Carr was benched, Crosby took it upon himself to step up and lead by example, as there were still two games left in the season.

“Those are the types of things you have to focus on, especially in those hard moments,” Crosby said. “[Jarrett] Stidham was up, and we were like: ‘Stidham, you’re our guy, let’s go,’ and that’s the tough part of the business. Life’s not fair in general, especially this business, it’s tough for anybody, but I’m wishing him the best. DC is my boy, everyone knows that, that’s my guy, and I wish him nothing but the best.”

Crosby said he thinks wherever Carr ends up playing next season, he will have success and that the Raiders will have success as long as they get going in the right direction.
