As Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby has climbed the ranks to become a top-tier edge rusher in the National Football League, the responsibility for him to step into a leadership role has naturally developed.

Crosby is constantly praised by those around the organization for his work ethic. It's a trait he not only uses for himself, but he also uses it to encourage his teammates to help them be the best they can be.

In the Raiders' joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday, Las Vegas came out without much urgency. Being the leader he is, Crosby spoke up and rallied his teammates to finish practice on a high note.

"Every single day, you've got an opportunity to get better," Crosby told reporters after practice. "There's no staying the same. So, you get better or you get worse. So, for me, I try to bring that juice -- not try, I bring that juice every single day. And I want my teammates to feel that, and s---, if I've got to go out there and take matters into my own hands, I can do it in different ways. So, that's what I try to do no matter what. I try to be the light, try to be the example in every single way I can."

Crosby stressed that for him, it's important to come out with a consistent mindset every day, regardless of how he's feeling.

"Some days you're going to feel like s---, some days you're going to feel great," Crosby said. "It is what it is. You got to get better and find ways to improve. Those are the days you get better: when you don't feel like you want to go, when you're feeling bad for yourself. That's when you've really got to go to that dark place. So, for me, no matter what it is, I'm trying to get to that place. No matter what, and just bring my teammates with me."

The Raiders will be back at it on Thursday with a chance to come out with a better pace.

"The standard is you show up and get better," Crosby said. "So, yeah, I don't know -- for me, as a leader, it's unacceptable. You see guys not being at their best, but there's an opportunity tomorrow to get better. So, I'm looking forward to everybody getting out there and getting better."

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT.
