Maxx Crosby Played Sunday Despite Being Ruled Doubtful
Las Vegas Raiders Pro-Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby is known for his relentless demeanor.
The fifth-year Raider has never missed an NFL game. On Sunday, that was very close to changing, but Crosby wanted to take the field for his team.
The two-time Pro Bowler did not practice all week due to an illness and knee injury. In the final injury report for Week 12, Crosby was declared doubtful for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
But the elite pass rusher played, officially making himself the first player this NFL season to play despite being listed as doubtful.
"It's been rough," Crosby told reporters after the Raiders' 31-17 loss. "It was a long week. Battled a lot of things, but I don't want to miss any games, regardless.
"Things happen in life. I've been through a lot in general. So, some people have their opinions like I'm crazy, but I know I'm crazy, so it's fine, I love it.
"Everything I do, I do it with a purpose. And I did everything in my power all week, and I can't give enough credit to everybody on the Raiders' staff -- Alex Guerrero, Tim Harkins, all those guys.
"They frickin' did everything in their power, and I've pissed them off and kept them up all night trying to get myself on the field. So, I can't say enough about those guys."
Fortunately for Crosby and the Raiders, he will have a good while to rest as the Silver and Black head into their bye week.
"It's coming at a good time for sure," Crosby said. "I just had to battle through some things. It was just tough.
"I've had some infections, certain different things like that, so I was, yeah, down for the count for a few days. So, yeah, that's just a part of it, so luckily, I have great people around me, a great team around me, and they helped me a lot."
The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
