Maxx Crosby Has Historic Day Against the Vikings
One of the few highlights for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday was the play of their top defensive player, Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
Crosby finished with 10 combined tackles, three for losses and two sacks in the Raiders' 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, a performance that put him in select company among Raiders' greats and NFL legends as well.
The two-time Pro Bowler reached 50 career sacks on Sunday, making him only one of five Raiders to ever do so. He is the only Raider to reach that mark in his first five NFL seasons.
Crosby's two sacks on Sunday brought him to 13.5 this season, a career-best.
The fifth-year Raider also reached 76 tackles this season, breaking his record set last season of most tackles by a Raiders defensive lineman in the first 13 games of a season. He had 73 through 13 games last year.
Crosby also became the fourth player in league history to total 300-plus combined tackles and 50.0-plus sacks in his first five NFL seasons.
Despite what was probably his best game of the season, Crosby knows that with any loss, there's always more he and his team could have done.
"We hate losing, I hate losing," Crosby told reporters after the game. "I'm sick of it. I can say it over and over and over again, but I've got to find ways to get better, personally, to help us win more games. And as a team, we've just got to keep finding ways to improve. So, it's all we can do."
Crosby has four games left to prove he is the league's Defensive Player of the Year this season and that he deserves to be selected to his first All-Pro First Team. He is likely on his way to his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance.
The Silver and Black will turn around quickly and host their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, on Thursday, December 14, at 8:15 p.m. EST/5:15 p.m. PST.
