Nate Hobbs' Mentality Ahead of the 2023 Campaign

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs has a big third year coming up.

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs was unable to build on an impressive rookie campaign last season, mostly due to a broken hand he sustained in Week 5.

But now, with training camp only a day away, he has a fresh slate awaiting him.

Hobbs joined the "BLACKOUT Podcast" on Friday, where he discussed the different approach he plans to take this season.

"Usually, I try to, like, set a goal and be like: 'I want this many of this and this many of that,'" Hobbs said. "But I've been finding in my life when I just try to outdo me, when I be the best version of myself -- I know that's cliche -- but that's just what's been working for me. When I try to outdo myself, whenever I'm tired or I don't want to, you know, going into next play or just getting out of bed, and I just attack the day, something good happens for me."

Hobbs is a versatile asset for the Raiders, having played all around the secondary last season.

"For me, this next year, is just embracing everything that comes my way, whatever the team wants from me, if they want me to go play safety, they want me to go play corner, they want me to switch up like I did last year -- play corner and base, nickel and nickel -- ... I'm embracing it all and just, any element I'm under, I'm just going to say God put me here for a reason, you know what I'm saying?" Hobbs said. "So just being the best version of me last year, every day, and I don't think I've ever been able to say I did that in my whole career: been the best version of me every day. So this year, that's my goal for myself."

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
