Most of the Las Vegas Raiders who have been to the Super Bowl are former New England Patriots.

However, new Raiders tight end O.J. Howard was one of the few who went to the title game with a team that wasn't New England -- yet, it was still a Tom Brady-led team.

Howard, who spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was a member of the 2020-21 team that conquered the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

After suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in Tampa Bay's Week 4 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, though, the tight end would miss the rest of the season, including the championship run.

Until his injury, Howard had recorded 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns in four games, having made one start. He did have his first opportunity to play in the postseason the following year but was not much of a contributor.

Howard posted only three yards on one reception in the Buccaneers' Wild Card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He would start in the Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams but, again, made only one reception, this one for seven yards.

Tampa Bay lost that game, and the Rams would become the Super Bowl champions.

That March, Howard signed with the Buffalo Bills but was released as part of final training camp roster cuts. He would be signed by the Houston Texans a few days later.

The Buccaneers selected Howard out of Alabama in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft (19th overall).

In his six years in the NFL thus far, the veteran has totaled 1,882 yards on 129 receptions, including 17 touchdowns.

Howard signed with the Raiders as a free agent in March.

With former Raider tight ends Darren Waller and Foster Moreau now with different teams, Howard will be competing in quite the position battle this upcoming training camp, as Las Vegas has stocked up on several tight ends this offseason.
