Robert Spillane Faces Former Team on Sunday
The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for their Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday night after a 38-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
One starting linebacker has the opportunity to play his former team this Sunday. Robert Spillane will face the Steelers, a team he spent three seasons with.
Spillane started his NFL career in 2018 with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan. He signed with the Steelers in 2019 and played three seasons as a starting linebacker for Pittsburgh.
This offseason, Spillane signed with the Silver and Black and has already made an impact on the Raiders' defense.
Last week against the Bills, Spillane finished the game with 14 total tackles, eight of them being solos, and one sack on Bills star quarterback Josh Allen.
So far this season with the Silver and Black, the fifth-year veteran starting linebacker has 21 total tackles, with 13 of them being solos. He eight assisted tackles and one sack.
With the Steelers, Spillane played a total of 50 games as a starting linebacker and made 190 total tackles. He also had three sacks and one interception with the Steelers
In his career, Spillane has 52 games played with 212 tackles and four sacks.
The Raiders are in need of having bounce-back defensive performance after a disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills. Spillane could be a key factor on the Raiders' defense this Sunday night against his former team.
All eyes are on linebacker Spillane as he will go up against his former coaches and players with the Steelers this Sunday night in Allegiant Stadium.
The Raiders look to seek revenge with a win against the Steelers. Pittsburgh beat the Silver and Black, 13-10, last season.
Both of these teams will go head-to-head for the third straight season.
The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8:20 p.m. EDT/5:20 p.m. PDT.
