The Las Vegas Raiders will wrap up their 2023 preseason against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, Aug. 26th, looking to go undefeated in the summer exhibitions.

As the preseason comes to a close, Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler will have to make the always tough decisions of cutting down the active roster to 53 players.

This offseason, the NFL has only one roster cut down day, whereas in years past they would have multiple days. The Raiders must cut their roster from 90 players to 53 on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The preseason is a chance for players who are fighting for roster spots to showcase their talent and stake their claim for a spot on the 53-man roster. Let’s take a look at three players who have a chance to earn a roster spot before cut down day.

Running Back Sincere McCormick -- McCormick is entering his second season in the NFL, but has had his first opportunity to play NFL football this preseason, coming off a torn ACL in 2022.

McCormick has played well, with 10 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown through two games, and he also caught a scoring pass. Against the Rams, McCormick had one carry for three yards. He has a shot to secure a spot on the roster with a solid performance against the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday.

McCormick could provide important depth for the Raiders’ running back room, especially if Josh Jacobs were to miss the start of the season. With another good performance, McCormick could solidify himself as a contributor to the Raiders’ offense in the regular season.

Cornerback Amik Robertson -- Robertson has been a Raider for the last three seasons and is looking to make it a fourth in 2023.

Robertson had a rough showing against the Rams, allowing three receptions on five targets in 29 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He faces tough competition in a crowded cornerback room, and will need a bounce-back performance against the Cowboys in order to increase his chances of making the roster.

Robertson has been a solid corner for the last three years for the Raiders and nearly had a pick-six against the Rams that went through his hands. He will have to show more flashes in the Raiders’ preseason finale.

Wide Receiver Kristian Wilkerson -- Like Robertson, Wilkerson is in a crowded position group.

Wilkerson impressed on Saturday, catching five passes for 54 yards and caught nice looking touchdown pass. If he can repeat this performance next weekend, Wilkerson will improve his chances of making the roster.

While it might be tough due to how many capable receivers the Raiders have, another good performance from Wilkerson will truly help his case.
