Las Vegas Raiders NFL Combine Preview: Defensive Linemen
The Las Vegas Raiders began participating in scouting events at the 2023 NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Defensive linemen and linebackers were the first to arrive and participate in the screening and team interviews.
An astonishing 51 of the 319 prospects participating in the combine will be defensive linemen.
The combine will bring together a large group of defensive prospects and give the Raiders a final look at the group before showcasing their skills individually at their Pro Days.
Some players have opted out of participating during the combine and only participate in the screening and team interviews.
The Raiders hold the seventh overall selection in this year’s draft.
The possibilities of drafting a defensive lineman are slim but don’t be surprised if one of these prospects gets their name called inside the top ten after a stellar performance at the combine.
The full list of prospects attending the combine is listed here, but below are a few prospects that can raise their draft stock at the combine.
- Calijah Kancey, Pittsburgh
- Isaiah Land, Florida A&M
- Bryan Bresee, Clemson
- Moro Ojomo, Texas
- Adetomiwa Adebawore, Northwestern
- Cameron Young, Mississippi State
- Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan
Once considered the top prospect, Bresee has fallen off the draft boards. The combine will be crucial for him to restore any doubt on scouts, but if he fails, he will fall into the second round, and the Raiders are in a position to get their early draft steal.
Ramirez is an intriguing small-school prospect who needs to showcase his skills in front of others and prove that he belongs with the top prospects.
Hailing out of Eastern Michigan, Maxx Crosby’s alma mater, Ramirez has all the potential to become a superstar.
Considered a Day Three prospect, Ramirez is beginning to build momentum and can skyrocket his draft stock in front of bigger school prospects.
The Raiders might have their eyes on a few defensive linemen now, but they could add a few more to their lists as the week goes on.
Defensive linemen will be the first to participate in drills starting Thursday, March 2, 10 a.m. PDT, along with linebackers.
The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. On March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
