Packers Have a Powerful Edge Rusher Themselves
For every Las Vegas Raiders opponent, one of the primary concerns is Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
In recent weeks, though, Las Vegas has had formidable opponents on the edge whom it has had to face as well, and Monday will be no different.
The Raiders offensive line will have the tough task of keeping Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Rashan Gary out of the backfield, an ask that most Packers opponents have not dealt well with this season.
"I mean, there are a lot of disruptive guys on their defense," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said when he addressed the media on Saturday. "Rashan's -- I mean, he's got a great motor, great play style, is very physical, can win with speed or power. Every time I turn the film on, it's like he's got another rush move or another way to get to the quarterback, or a way to disrupt the running game.
"He's a very physical player, and I'm very impressed with him. Again, they've got a lot of guys who, I would say in that category on the edge that do it the right way. Physical, good length, can rush with speed or power.
"I think our tackles -- I mean, every week in this league is the same. It's just: who is it? What's their name? Khalil Mack, is it Joey Bosa, is it T.J. Watt?
"I mean, the list goes on and on. So, this is another really big test for us on the edge. We must do an excellent job of standing up to these guys.
"And they'll play them all. There's not going to be only one or two of them in there. So, a lot of different faces that our guys are getting comfortable [with] and getting used to as we watch tape this week, because I think you've got to understand the differences in terms of how they play."
Gary has 3.5 sacks and two quarterback hits in four games this season.
The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next week to play the Green Bay Packers on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8:15 p.m. EDT/5:15 p.m. PDT.
