For most players who join the Las Vegas Raiders for the first time, it's a very unique transition.

Not only is it a new experience getting to know a new club, but for those coming from markets, particularly in the East, it's an entirely different atmosphere than what they're used to.

New Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane, for example, has only known Pennsylvania and Tennessee from his time with the Steelers and the Titans.

Having yet even to play a game with his new team, though, Spillane is already quite settled in.

"Yeah, I love the city," Spillane said when he addressed the media on Friday. "I'm a local now. I bought a house here in Vegas. I look forward to getting to know the communities. Great food, great weather, beautiful views. I've been loving the mountain views. In the summer, I spent a lot of time at Red Rock. I like getting outdoors in the nature.”

What's left for the 27-year-old linebacker is to be embraced by the Las Vegas community.

"Yeah, I really look forward to getting in the community, getting to know Raider Nation," Spillane said. "And not from these podium talks, I want them to see me for my play, for seeing who I am as a person in the community. So, this is just the prelims and I want them to know me for the right reasons."

Spillane was signed by the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan in 2018. He was there for one year before signing with the Steelers, whom he played with for the following four seasons.

So far in his NFL career, Spillane has 191 combined tackles, 10 for losses, three sacks, eight passes defensed and a fumble recovery.

Spillane and the Raiders will take on his former team, the Steelers, at Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 24 in a Sunday Night Football game.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
