Pierce Explains Hatred of the Chiefs

It's safe to say Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce hates his division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs.
In this story:

It’s no secret the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs do not like each other.

The AFC West rivals often have exciting games against each other, as the Silver and Black want to bring it to the Super Bowl champions every time they cross paths.

Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce has not hidden his disdain for the Chiefs. The now-permanent head man took his team into Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day and upset them, 20-14.

The Chiefs used the Raiders’ locker room during Super Bowl LVIII, which Pierce uses as motivation for his team.

Pierce explained his feelings for the Chiefs on the latest episode of defensive end Maxx Crosby’s podcast, "The Rush with Maxx Crosby."

“It’s tough because we can’t go in the building,” Pierce said. “We’re locked out too. But you know what? It’s motivation. Guess the last team to beat them. Who was the last team to beat the Chiefs?”

Pierce then invoked the live audience to break out in a “RAIDERS” chant to answer the question.

“Like I told them, we’ll run it back," Pierce said. "We’ll see them again. They have to see us; we have to see them. We’ve already given the recipe of how to do it. These guys know what it’s like to do it on a day where -- we talked about it. We were the first show on that day. We played at 10 o’clock, 12 o’clock their time. There was no NBA. LeBron wasn’t playing yet. Everyone was watching the Raiders versus the Chiefs.”

Pierce elaborated on instilling that hatred for the Chiefs into his team.

“Maxx (Crosby) knows exactly how we built up that week, how I was building up that week to hate the color red," Pierce said. "We saw red, we hate red. It was on that kind of level. There’s a difference between dislike and hatred.

“There’s a hatred for the Chiefs. You have to truly dislike and hate this individual team. We’ll be cool now in the offseason; we see them, we’re going to shake hands when we’re out in a place like this, but between the white lines and the grass, it was on.”
