Crosby Sends Message to Football Youth
Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby exemplifies what it means to be a professional, on and off the football field.
Crosby is having an excellent season, engineering an improved Raiders’ defense that has kept them competitive in games. His performance this season has him in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation.
Being a star in the NFL gives Crosby the platform to inspire young football players who look up to him.
On the most recent episode of his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby, he sent a message to the football youth trying to be like him.
“Rushers come in all different shapes and sizes,” Crosby said. “That’s the beautiful thing about D-Linemen in general. You see a guy like Aaron Donald, who is maybe 6-foot-1, they might list him at 6-foot-2, he might be six-foot, and he’s the most dominant 3-tech to ever play. You've got guys on the edge; some of them are Greg Rousseau, 6-foot-7, 260, and you've got Von Miller, who’s 6-foot-2, 250. They come in all shapes and sizes, and the beautiful thing about it is that no matter what, if you can get to the quarterback, you’re going to have a great career.
“You’re going to be able to make a lot of money and change your life and create a great legacy. So, for me, I’m 6-foot-5, 258-260, around that range, and I don’t look like 'The Hulk.' There’s some guys like Khalil Mack, who looks like 'The Hulk,' or an action figure, and Danielle Hunter, too. I saw him on the field today; that dude looks like a monster. Nick Bosa, I don’t even know what he looks like. He looks like a Komodo dragon, like Godzilla. No matter what, if you can rush and you put everything you have into improving your play on a daily basis, you can do anything you want.”
Crosby reiterated that while he does not look like the prototypical NFL edge rusher, the work he puts in makes him such an impactful pass rusher week in and week out.
