The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named Antonio Pierce their permanent head coach after his tremendous job turning the team around in the second half of the 2023 season.

Pierce went 5-4 after taking over for Josh McDaniels, who was fired in October. He had the Raiders playing with lots of confidence and was adored by players and fans.

Some players, including star defensive end Maxx Crosby, were outspoken about their support of Pierce and desire him to earn the permanent role. Crosby said he would evaluate all options, including a trade request, if Pierce did not get the job.

To his – and Raiders fans’ – delight, Pierce is sticking around. Crosby described the moment he found out the news on the latest episode of his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby.

“I’m fired up, bro,” he said. “We’re going to get back to work, keep building what we’ve already started, and I’m fired up for the future, bro. We have something special going, and AP is the right man for the job. I feel like everyone feels that; everyone knows that. It is what it is at the end of the day. I had to say a few things, but I just wanted what was right for the organization at the end of the day. It’s about the team; it’s about us as a whole."

The Las Vegas Raiders promoted Antonio Pierce as their full-time head coach, much to the delight of defensive end Maxx Crosby.

“I feel like AP is the perfect guy to lead us to where we want to go. People are going to have their opinions and things like that, but at the end of the day, I love this team, and I want us to win. That’s really all that matters to me. I’m fired up, bro. I got the news [Friday], I was f—ing jumping around the house. The vibes were heavy. Jumping around on one leg and getting to work. So, it’s exciting, bro.”

The Raiders must hire a general manager and build out Pierce’s offensive staff. Las Vegas faces several questions this offseason on both sides of the ball and off the field, but one thing is certain: Crosby and the Raiders are thrilled to have Pierce back in a permanent capacity.
