Maxx Crosby Lauds Zamir White's Progression

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby had praise for running back Zamir White and how he has stepped up when the team needed him.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White has had scarce opportunities since being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia.

However, since Josh Jacobs has been out due to a quad injury, White has stepped up tremendously in his absence. In the two games that Jacobs has been out, White has carried the ball 39 times for 214 yards and a touchdown.

On Christmas Day against the Kansas City Chiefs, White led the league in rushing in Week 16 with 22 carries for 145 yards, including three big runs to put the game on ice.

White’s performance and continued progression earned him the “Dawg of the Day” honor from defensive end Maxx Crosby on his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby. The honor goes to a player who put up a tenacious performance during that week.

Crosby spoke about White’s big game and what he has meant to the team in the last two weeks.

“Zamir, coming from Georgia, hasn’t had a lot of opportunities since he’s been in the league,” Crosby said. “This is his second year. Josh Jacobs obviously missed his second game in a row, and for Zamir to step up the way he did in such a big game and to not only play well but play great, leading the league in rushing this week, it’s an honor to him. The fact that he came in and did what he did is special.”

White did not have many carries in his rookie season, totaling only 17 for 70 yards in 14 games. The Raiders planned to increase his usage during his second season and have done so significantly. His rushing production has more than tripled this season, and he has shown off the talent that made him an intriguing prospect at Georgia.

Crosby also lauded the offensive line for its performance as well. That unit has played well recently and was named a top-10 unit in the NFL ahead of Week 17 by Pro Football Focus.

If Jacobs cannot play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, White will have another opportunity to be the lead back against a defense that ranks 28th against the run this season.
