New Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL in February as a seven-time Super Bowl champion.

Now, he is transitioning to the next chapter of his career while still participating in football. It was announced in May that Brady would buy a stake in the Raiders. Brady has a strong business relationship with principal owner Mark Davis, who owns the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA.

Brady recently joined ESPN’s Jeremy Schapp on SportsCenter to talk about the next steps in his career, among other things.

“I know we’re in the process of trying to invest in a minority share in the Raiders,” he said. “I’m still a part of football, it’s just going to be in a little bit of a different way, but still looking to make contributions in those areas to those teams, just in a different way than I did as a quarterback, but still, very excited about both of them.”

As he is set to become the minority owner of the Raiders, Brady discussed the role he sees for himself as a limited partner.

“To be involved in an organization is a dream come true,” Brady said. “I never envisioned that growing up, like I said, in San Mateo as this kid in Portola Drive that I would be playing football with my buddies all day, and to be involved in the NFL for hopefully as long as I possibly can is a dream come true. I’ve got different responsibilities at different times, but this is something that I look forward to being involved with for the rest of my life.”

In the interview, Brady reiterated that he is happy being retired and is “relieved” to no longer face some of the league’s best defensive players.

“The game is in great hands,” he said. “It’s time for other guys to do it.”

Brady is looking forward to contributing to the game of football, but in a different way than he did as a player. It’s unclear what that might be, but he is excited to have part ownership in the Raiders.

The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:

OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15

Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
