Telesco Using Combine to Get to Know Raiders' Personnel

Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Tom Telesco is not only evaluating talent at this year's NFL Combine, but he's becoming familiar with his personnel staff as well.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- With any person stepping into a new role in the NFL, it's time to get to work the moment you're thrown into the mix.

New Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Tom Telesco already has a lot of important tasks he has to take care of before the Raiders even take the gridiron for OTAs this spring. That's why the former Los Angeles Chargers General Manager must make the most of every opportunity he can to be the best general manager he can be for Las Vegas.

Right now, it's the 2024 NFL Combine, and while Telesco's obvious mission is to narrow down his prospects in this year's NFL Draft, he is also embracing the chance to learn more about the people he will be working with.

"For me, I love being around our guys at the combine," Telesco said when he addressed the media at the NFL Combine on Tuesday. "When I talk about our guys, like our personnel staff. Especially right now to get to know them better. 

"So, I spent a lot of time just talking football with all the scouts, all the personnel people. I love that part of it because we're with each other all day long. I've been in some different committee meetings the last couple of days, but starting tomorrow [Wednesday] I'll be with our guys every day, so that's a big part of it."

Telesco's longtime colleague JoJo Wooden, Raiders Senior Director of Player Personnel, will also have to get to know his staff, as he recently joined the team after 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.

How the Raiders draft in April should be very telling of how well this personnel group works together.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
