Raiders Tom Telesco Talks About RB Josh Jacobs

Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Tom Telesco had the opportunity to talk about running back Josh Jacobs at the 2024 NFL Combine.

The Las Vegas Raiders have many decisions to make this offseason regarding resigning players.

One of the Raiders' key decisions is whether or not to resign running back Josh Jacobs, the 2022 NFL rushing leader with 1,653 yards.

Jacobs, despite missing time due to injuries, finished the 2023-24 NFL regular season with 805 rushing on 233 carries and six touchdowns. He added 37 receptions for 296 yards and dropped only five catches. 

The 2019 NFL first-round draft pick from Alabama ended the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.0, a rushing grade of 70.1, and a receiving grade of 51.0.

Raiders' new General Manager Tom Telesco had the opportunity to talk at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind. Telecso discussed Jacobs's importance as a running back for the Silver and Black offense.

"Yeah, I mean he's a high-level player, and I do want to establish a philosophy with the Raiders that we like to resign our own," Telesco said. "It doesn't bother me that I didn't draft him, he's a Raider and he was drafted by the Raiders and he's a high-level player.

"So yeah, we're going to explore pretty hard to see if we can bring him back here and kind of go from there. But he's far as a player in running game, pass game, pass protection, he can really help you win games."

With five seasons being the primary starting running back for the Silver and Black, Jacobs has rushed for 5,545 yards on 1,305 carries  and scored 46 touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see what the Raiders and Telesco will decide to do this offseason regarding Jacobs' future with the team.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
