Tre'von Moehrig's Best is Yet to Come for Raiders

All the pieces are there for safety Tre'von Moehrig to have a great season for the Las Vegas Raiders.
In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders spent considerable capital on their secondary through free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft.

This should be a safety relief for Tre’von Moehrig, who had a rough sophomore season and had to shoulder a large load in his first year in a new system. Moehrig has played in two different systems in his only two seasons in the NFL.

Now, with more help around him in the form of Marcus Epps and a couple of draft picks Jakorian Bennett and Christopher Smith II, as well as another year in Patrick Graham’s system, Moehrig won’t be asked to take on as much responsibility and can play more freely.

Moehrig has always been a very good tackler, showing off textbook technique and intelligent pursuit of the ball carrier. It was one of his top traits coming out of TCU in 2021. Moehrig posted 41 tackles and two tackles for losses in 2022.

Moehrig is entering a pivotal year in his career. While he has had good moments, the Raiders will likely want more consistency from him in 2023. After the 2024 season, Moehrig will enter free agency.

If he plays well in his third season, he’ll give himself a good chance to impress the front office, strengthening his chances of signing a second contract.

With another year in the same system and an improved supporting cast in the secondary, Tre’von Moehrig has a chance to make 2023 the best of his career.

The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:

OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15

Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
