Through two weeks, Las Vegas Raiders second-year running back Zamir White is having the preseason that was expected of him.

With Raiders All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs missing training camp, the fan base knew the focus would shift towards the rest of the running back room.

As it stands, White is No. 1 at the position on the depth chart, and he has made the most of the opportunity as his sophomore season approaches.

"Zamir [White] has made a lot of progress in every area," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said when he addressed the media in a virtual press conference on Sunday. "He caught the ball last night out of the backfield. He knows who he's responsible for in protection. He's chipping in slamming on the edges when he's responsible to do that to help the tackles. He's took great care of the football and protected it very well, which is a huge thing for us and our team, and he runs downhill.

"He's physical -- there were some plays last night again where maybe it's a two-yard run, but it's a five-yard run. Or it's a four- or five-yard run, and it's a seven-yard run because he's got a great finish and forward lean. He makes extra yards on contact most plays. So, he's just continuing to progress and improve, and the more he plays, the better he does."

White ran for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' 34-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the preseason. He followed that performance with a 40-yard rushing and nine-yard receiving display on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams.

White saw only 40 offensive snaps in his rookie season, ultimately having totaled 70 rushing yards on just 17 attempts.

The Raiders selected White in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft following his national title run at Georgia.

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.
