Maxx Crosby Evolving as a Leader on and off the Field

Las Vegas Raider super-star defensive end Maxx Crosby is evolving as a leader on and off the field.

Maxx Crosby shined as a surprise fourth-round draft pick by the Las Vegas Raiders, leading the team with 10 sacks and emerging as a young, potential cornerstone of the Raiders defense.

Some players might feel satisfied after having a year like that. Crosby isn’t, and instead, he wants to be in the lead of the Raiders' efforts to get back to the top of the NFL heap.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Crosby followed up on a previous statement he made about wanting to sack Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Crosby said: “I know what we need to beat the Chiefs. Well, not the exact formula, but I know how much confidence is important in a locker room. If you ask me if I’m going to get Mahomes, I will say yes, every time. I’ve put in the work.”

It’s that same determination and confidence that drives his desire to help make the Raiders the best in the NFL, as he also said: “I want to show all the guys that we can beat anyone. I have no problem being that guy and taking any heat for it. I want to be a leader. I want to set the example.”

Words like that aren’t always common among players so early into their careers. Crosby has shown that he has the confidence to step into that role for the Raiders.

It’s not just with the Raiders that Crosby has grown into being more a leader, either. On Wednesday, Crosby hosted an Athletes Doing Good radiothon to benefit Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, which is part of a nationally recognized foundation for changing health care through high quality and sustainable costs.

As part of the program, it also provides neurosurgery serviced for children at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

“With everything going on in the world right now, people are struggling and losing jobs and kids are sick and might be in hospitals fighting for their lives,” Crosby said. “It’s not easy financially on them. I’m not going to just sit back and enjoy the life of being an NFL player and having more money than the average American. I want to help people out. I’m just excited to be in a position that allows me to do so.”
