Raiders vs. Cowboys Live Game Thread

Sports Illustrated's Raider Maven provides you the official Las Vegas Raiders versus the Dallas Cowboys game thread.

DALLAS, Texas--The Las Vegas Raiders (5-5) are desperately in need of a win today as they enter AT & T Stadium, more affectionately called, "Jerry Jones World."  The Cowboys (7-3) are limping into this game and not wanting to be the team that breaths life back into the Silver and Black season.

Remember the rule of five. If the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle, the game is over. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give -up two, that means they are plus one. If they then get four turnovers and give up only one, that means they are plus three. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. Teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games on average.

HALFTIME UPDATE:

In a game that has to be considered a must-win, it was imperative for the Las Vegas Raiders to get off to a fast start.

They were able to do just that, taking only three plays to score a touchdown on their opening drive and going into halftime with a 17-13 lead.

That touchdown was scored by wide receiver DeSean Jackson, taking in a 56-yard pass from quarterback Derek Carr in the longest play of the game so far.

It was part of a first quarter that saw the Raiders score two touchdowns, the second coming from running back Josh Jacobs, who had twelve touches in the first half.

The Raiders were also able to take advantage of six penalties that were called on the Dallas Cowboys in the first quarter.

The Raiders did lose two important players in tight end Darren Waller and defensive end Carl Nassib, who both are questionable to return to the game with knee injuries.

Defensively, the Raiders have made the Cowboys have to work for their points, whose offense has looked out of sync at times without wideouts CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper.

They're holding the Cowboys running game under four yards per carry, not letting Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard to gash them, albeit allowing Elliott to score a one-yard touchdown.

Looking at the second half, the status of Waller will be a big key to watch for the Raiders offense.

If he's out for the rest of the game, it could significantly limit Carr's effectiveness.

The Raiders also could put some time in making sure Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons receives regular double-teams.

He's affected several throws by Carr today, and has the chance to be a game-breaker in this game for Dallas.
