State of the Raiders Podcast: Rookie QBs on the Radar
HENDERSON, Nev.--In our weekly state of the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with my good buddy and colleague Matt Hladik of TheSpun.com, we look at quarterback options for the Silver and Black.
Last week we broke the story of the Raiders not waiting around for Aaron Rodgers and that they will be moving forward.
The Raiders hold several selections in this year’s NFL Draft, and we expect them to utilize one on a quarterback.
Other options exist if they decide to go a different route, such as a bold move for a young and proven quarterback in Mac Jones.
Below is our entire podcast that you can watch and listen to now:
A partial list of potential top-tier pics taking part in the combine is listed below:
- Will Levis, Kentucky, is considered by many to be a safe pick. What are people telling us about him and the NFL Draft?
- Bryce Young, Alabama, has all of the tools. He is an exceptional quarterback, but he is small. Not only in height but frame and weight as well. He has the best tools of any quarterback in this NFL Draft; he does have question marks.
- Anthony Richardson, Florida, is moving up the fastest on NFL Draft boards. Many scouts and NFL Executives love what they are seeing and may have the most to gain this week at the NFL Combine.
- C.J. Stroud, Ohio State had an exceptional game against the Georgia Bulldogs, but he has a QBR in the 70s under pressure, and NFL teams are asking if the game versus UGA was an outlier or a sign of things to come.
- Hendon Hooker from the Tennessee Volunteers is a name you need to remember. We reported several days ago that the Raiders have taken a long look at this talented youngster.
- The scheme he ran in Knoxville is not one in which he could make many analytical decisions, with most of his pre-snap reads making throws predetermined. That isn't questioning his intelligence; it is simply the system.
- He is coming off of an injury, but resigning Jarrett Stidham and bringing Hooker along could be wise.
- One NFL Executive said of Hooker to us: "He has the most upside of any QB in this NFL Draft."
- Where could the Raiders get him?
- What would be a plan that worked?
- Is Mac Jones still a viable option?
- Where are the Raiders and the re-signing of Jarrett Stidham?
