Podcast: Pierce, a Change Agent, Crosby's Voice, NFL

Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast on how Antonio Pierce as a change agent in the NFL, Maxx Crosby found his voice, and we go around the NFL.
In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders have flipped the page to the 2024 offseason, and owner Mark Davis is officially on the hunt for the Silver and Black's next permanent General Manager and Head Coach.

Which direction will Davis go? Nobody knows, but the process is underway. We have said from the beginning that we expect Champ Kelly to be named permanent general manager and Antonio Pierce to be the permanent head coach.

In our latest episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, we discuss Maxx Crosby finding his voice and emerging as a Captain, the latest NFL news, and Antonio Pierce as an NFL change agent like Dan Campbell and Demeco Ryans.

Antonio Pierce addressed where things sit now, waiting for Mark Davis to decide. “Yeah, it’s still not until it’s final, until we put pen to paper," Pierce said. "And listen, that's kind of the question that was asked to me next to me last night about X’s and O’s. Like, that wasn't what I was asked to do. Even though I'm still coaching the linebackers, I'm still with the defense, I’m over there with the oline and the running backs. Maybe nobody sees that, but. I don't sit up at my desk all day. But at the end of day, like I said, when you're in that position, when it changed so suddenly, there was no need for me to try to act like I could do everything at one time. I put one hat on, and that was the hat of coaching, getting this team right, getting the mindset right, getting our building together, getting us to buy in, chemistry, accountability, pride, poise, passion, all the stuff that you hear me talk about each and every game, and that's not going to change. And I think you saw last night, finally, a body of work all come together in one night in front of our fan base at home. That was really a Raider game, that was a Raider game. That was a Raider home game for the first time since I've been here. That was a raider home game and our players played to that. We talked about that. That's how we create that environment. So, everything that Mark asked me to do, I tried to do my best to accomplish that. Now we came up short with the playoffs, but I think what you saw was a team that was very competitive each and every week. Total buy in, total team. We took out the ‘I’ and the ‘me’ and talked a lot about ‘us’ and ‘we’ and team, and that was good to see. And that's what that was last night. People think we smoke cigars because we're celebrating a victory. That’s not why we’re doing it, that’s not why we're doing it. It's not about the one game against the Giants, it's not about beating the Broncos. It’s about what the team decided to do together. And I think when you see it from outside, it can come off in a lot of different ways. But what this team has shown is that they're together, they're one, they finish, and what we wanted to do was have one last impression. So, today, right now, because this is our last time together, we’re going to have our one last impression. Alright, so I'm going to say it, you guys stay with me now. Raaaaaiders! Listen, when I get the job, we are going to work on that together.”
