Baker Mayfield Signing with Rams at $8 Million? Pricy QB Rumor

Did Rams QB Mayfield fix himself to get a starting job somewhere? That’s one idea expressed by - you guessed it - Mayfield himself.
In this story:

Los Angeles Rams QB Baker Mayfield may have rebooted his career as he hits free agency.

But did Mayfield fix himself to get a starting job somewhere? That’s one idea expressed by - you guessed it - Mayfield himself.

“I know I’m a starting quarterback,” he said after serving as a late-season emergency first-teamer in the wake of Matthew Stafford’s injury. “I’m confident in that, and we’ll just see what happens.”

But there is another school of thoughts as one report suggests the bidders on Mayfield might end up being the Bucs, the Niners and the Rams … while also suggesting that his price tag for 2023 might be $8 million.

That’s cheap for a good starter. Is Mayfield a good starter?

Meanwhile, Stafford is set to return to Los Angeles’ huddle in 2023, which means this team’s interest in him is obviously not as a starter.

Given the Rams’ cap tightness, $8 million might be too much for a QB his team hopes never plays.
