Bobby Wagner Among Top Free Agents Available
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner remains unsigned as NFL free agency rolls.
There have been rumors about the dynamic linebacker heading to the Dallas Cowboys or a reunion with the Seattle Seahawks but no official movement yet on where Wagner will land. The durable 32-year-old started all 17 games for the Rams last season, playing nearly every defensive snap.
He recorded 140 tackles, a career-high six sacks, two interceptions, and five passes defended. Wagner was a second-team All-Pro.
The 11-year veteran is ranked as ESPN's third-best player available, behind tight end Dalton Schultz, who takes the top spot on ESPN's rankings. Another former Ram on the list is wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at No. 4.
Wagner's declining play speed shows on the tape, but the six-time first-team All-Pro linebacker can still produce due to his high-level awareness and defensive instincts. Last season, Wagner logged 81 solo tackles with six sacks and two interceptions. He can key and diagnose with speed to track the ball. A one-year deal from a contending team adds up here.
A Los Angeles team that struggled to a 5-12 record will now be without three of its key defensive players from last season in Wagner, Jalen Ramsey and Leonard Floyd. A year removed from winning Super Bowl LVI, the Rams' Super Bowl odds are 14th-best in the league.
Perhaps the Rams will add defensive talent in the 2023 NFL Draft. L.A. will have 10 picks in the upcoming draft but the majority of those selections will come on day three. The Rams hold the No. 36 overall pick, the seventh consecutive year in which they won't have a first-round selection.
