Could Los Angeles Rams Help Fire Washington Commanders' Ron Rivera?

Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera could be fired after Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
In this story:

NFL teams firing their coaches during the season has become a hot topic lately ... and the Los Angeles Rams could have their hand in it.

No, Sean McVay isn't going anywhere, but if he can lead his team to victory on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, it may be the final game in the Ron Rivera era.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Commanders are planning to fire Rivera at the end of the season, but a big loss on Sunday could expedite the process.

On Friday, the cross-town rival Los Angeles Chargers fired Brandon Staley after an embarrassing 63-21 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football. Staley became the third coach this season to lose his job in the middle of the year, and Rivera could possibly become the fourth.

About a year ago, the Rams were simply waiting for the season to end, much like their Christmas Day opponent in the Denver Broncos, but after a 51-14 thumping, Nathaniel Hackett was fired the next day in a brutal firing less than a year after he was hired to be the team's coach.

Rams vs. Commanders Preview: Playoff Push Intensifies

The Commanders come into Sunday's game having lost four games in a row, including back-to-back games by 30 or more points. If the Rams can continue that trend, Rivera's season may come to an end sooner than he is expecting.

The Commanders and Rams are set to kick off at 1:05 p.m. PT tomorrow inside SoFi Stadium. The game can be watched on CBS.
