Ex Rams WR Allen Robinson Blasts Team Following Trade to Steelers

Former Los Angeles Rams receiver Allen Robinson criticized the team for not using him properly following his trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Rams traded receiver Allen Robinson to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a minimal return.

Robinson never quite fit in with the Rams, as he had only 33 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games. According to him, though, the problem was the Rams not using him correctly. In his introductory press conference with the Steelers on Monday, Robinson criticized his former team for mishandling him last season.

"If you’re a fork you don’t want to be used as a spoon the majority of the time," Robinson said, via Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Rams brought in Robinson to help shore up a receiver room that lost both Odell Beckham Jr. and Robert Woods that offseason. They clearly had high expectations for him, as evidenced by the three-year, $46.5-million contract they signed him to. Unfortunately for both Robinson and the Rams, the season didn't go as planned.

Furthermore, the 2022 season was the second disappointing one in a row for the veteran wideout. In 2021, Robinson had just 38 receptions for 410 yards and one touchdown in 12 games with the Chicago Bears. Prior to that, he had back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 yards for Chicago.

Even with this disappointing stretch, Robinson still believes he has a lot left in the tank.

"I feel like I have a lot of football left in me. ... My route-running ability, being able to get active in the red zone and things like that, I felt good about last year," Robinson said.

Despite Robinson's confidence, it's clear that he and the Rams weren't a good match for each other.
