Jared Goff Jabs Rams Fans: 'Not Like This!' Lions QB Says Ahead 49ers NFC Title Game
Los Angeles Rams fans have heard all of this before. That doesn't make it true - that you're level of passion doesn't match what some other fan bases bring - but it is a "thing,'' a "meme,'' even.
And Jared Goff is now - with subtlety - trying to sort of explain it.
This week, Detroit Red Wings hockey fans were heard chanting Goff's name during Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The passion for the long-bad Lions and their long-suffering fans is on their sleeve. (Well, it was hockey, so "sweater.'' But you're a "passion'' sports fan; you know what we mean.)
And Lions quarterback Jared Goff - who of course played in a Super Bowl with the Rams before being traded for Matthew Stafford, and who just this postseason helped Detroit push L.A. out of the playoffs - heard about the chants and expressed his appreciation ...
By suggesting that such a thing never quite happened in SoCal.
“These fans are unbelievable,” Goff said. “I expect to see a lot of them this weekend as well."
He said the L.A. experience was "not like this'' one he's enjoying in Detroit.
'Happy For Him!' Sean McVay is Proud of Lions QB Jared Goff
Lions fans have indeed been traveling to watch their team all year so there might be some Honolulu Blue in the building as they invade Levi's Stadium on Sunday evening for the NFC Championship Game.
