McVay Praises Rams RB Kyren Williams' 'Work Ethic'; 'I Love Him!'
The Rams need to make a statement against the Giants on Sunday or their postseason hopes could begin to fall.
Los Angeles has an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win over New York and help from a Seattle home loss against Pittsburgh or a Green Bay and Minnesota tie.
One year after one of the most disappointing seasons in recent Rams memory, this year's success was unexpected. After a 3-6 start, Los Angeles has gone 5-1 since, with the only hiccup coming in the form of an overtime loss to the NFL-best Baltimore Ravens.
It's a far cry from the 5-12 season when the Rams became the 17th Super Bowl team to miss the playoffs the next season.
“I love the way that these guys have come in and I like the consistency that I’ve seen throughout the course of the year," coach Sean McVay said. “But I think we have really started to play better football, more quality football, more complementary.”
While the Rams have had a some stars breakout this season, maybe none have done so more than running back Kyren Williams.
While Williams didn't begin the season as the starter, he quickly established himself early in the year as the best option carrying the ball for the Rams.
And McVay has taken notice.
“No doubt, we’re different when he plays,” McVay said. “I mean, you just look at it. I mean, now there’s enough inventory and the energy, the production, just the overall work ethic. I mean, there are so many guys on this team that you just say, man, they are exactly what we’re looking for in Rams. I love him.”

Williams has carried the ball for 1,057 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while also catching 30 passes for 192 yards and three more touchdowns. His average of 96.1 yards per game leads the league.
Los Angeles is 7-4 with Williams in the lineup and just 1-3 when he's out. What's more, since Williams returned from injury, the Rams are 4-1 and have played themselves back into possible playoff contention.
