The Los Angeles Rams will be without star receiver Cooper Kupp after they placed him on injured reserve on Saturday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

With Kupp going on IR, he will officially miss the first four games of the season including Sunday's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The other games he will miss are a home game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 17 and road games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, respectively.

Kupp left practice on Aug. 1 with a hamstring injury, although it initially didn't appear to be serious. On Aug. 24, two days before the Rams preseason finale against the Denver Broncos, Kupp even said "I'm playing" when asked about his status for Week 1.

Over the past two weeks, though, Kupp's status has become less and less clear. He reportedly experienced a "setback" on Aug. 31 and visited an injury specialist last weekend. Coach Sean McVay then ruled Kupp out on Wednesday, and mentioned that going on IR was a possibility the following day. Lo and behold, that's exactly what happened.

Injuries have unfortunately been a trend throughout Kupp's career. He has only played a full season twice in six years and has missed 18 games total throughout his time with the Rams. His worst injuries were a torn ACL in 2018 and a high ankle sprain in 2022, each causing him to miss eight games.

When healthy, though, Kupp has been one of the most productive receivers in the league. His best season came in 2021, when he led the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns while helping the Rams win Super Bowl 56, winning Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP. Even last year, Kupp had 75 receptions for 812 yards and six touchdowns in just nine games. He is still among the best receivers in the league and their heart and soul on offense.

Now, though, they'll have to adjust to life without Kupp for at least the next month.
