Rams Coach Sean McVay Ready To Lead Team For Years
Sean McVay arrived as the Los Angeles Rams head coach in 2017, and has posted a 60-38 regular season record and has gone 7-3 in the postseason. That postseason record includes two Super Bowl appearances with one championship in 2021.
But after that Super Bowl win over the Bengals in February of 2022, things haven't gone smoothly for McVay or the Rams.
A 5-12 mark after last season caused McVay to consider stepping away from the organization and calling it quits. And as he ultimately decided to remain with the team for 2023, he has now informed us that it's not just a one-year decision.
“You want to make sure you’re making a decision … for years to come,” McVay said in a pre-free agency video conference, via Jourdan Rodrigue of TheAthletic.com. “I’m committed to not having this become ‘a story’ every year. I don’t take that lightly.”
Before McVay's arrival, the team hadn't had a winning season since 2003, and he referenced that first year when discussing what he thinks might be a difficult 2023.
“We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us,” McVay said, via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press, “but similar to when we first got here in 2017, we’re excited about rolling up our sleeves and getting to work and figuring out how we can be as competitive as possible.”
