Rams Panned in Updated 2020 NFL Draft Class Grades

The Los Angeles Rams 2020 NFL Draft class did not get a good grade in an updated look at the group.
In this story:

It's not quite "F them picks," but general manager Les Snead, head coach Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams didn't fare well in a regrade of their 2020 NFL Draft class

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports initially gave the Rams a B when reviewing their 2020 class, despite the fact that Los Angeles traded their first-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of the deal for cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

But Prisco says that Ramsey being traded to the Miami Dolphins this offseason -- mixed with stalled developments from the likes of running back Cam Akers and wide receiver Van Jefferson -- has forced him to revise his grade to a D

"I liked the pick of Jefferson in the second and questioned taking Akers in that same round. I thought they got great value in the third by taking Terrell Lewis and Terrell Burgess. That's not good. With Ramsey no longer on the roster, and not a lot of production from the rest of the draft, this was not a good draft."

In fairness to Snead and the Rams, they pushed the chips to the center of the table in a manner never seen before in the sport, and Ramsey ended up being a key piece on a team that won a Super Bowl. Flags, as the kids say, fly forever.

Additionally, this class has had some bad luck with injuries. Jefferson was limited to nine games in an injury-riddled 2022 season, a year after he appeared on the verge of a breakout when he caught 50 passes for 802 yards and six touchdowns. Meanwhile, Akers rushed for 345 yards in the final three weeks of the 2022 season, perhaps a sign that he's fully recovered from the torn right achilles that he suffered in July of 2021.

There is a reality, though, that when you never pick in the first round and don't hit on the selections that you do have, the outlook for your roster can get bleak in a hurry. And that's where the Rams are right now.
