Rams Meet With Versatile Safety Jaiden Woodbey Prior To NFL Draft
LOS ANGELES - With the 2023 NFL draft less than one week away, The Los Angeles Rams are looking at all options to improve their defense.
According to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, The Rams met privately with Boston College safety, Jaiden Woodbey, on Thursday.Fowler also reported the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and Indianapolis Colts had shown interest in Woodbey.
In his two seasons with the Eagles, Woodbey accumulated 126 tackles, including 8.5 for loss, and earned multiple All-ACC honors. The 6-foot-tall safety weighed 222 pounds at the start of his senior season at Boston College. But, at the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl, he weighed 232 pounds, hoping to prove to NFL general managers that he could play linebacker professionally.
The Rams showed their interest in his talents having linebackers coach Chris Shula be one of three coaches present at the meeting. The Rams are looking for help at both secondary and linebacker positions after several offseason departures including safety Taylor Rapp, cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and David Long Jr., and linebackers Bobby Wagner and Leonard Floyd. And Woodbey could potentially help fill those voids.
Woodbey is also a local product, attending St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, CA, only an hour from SoFi stadium. He started his college career at Florida State before transferring to Boston College before the 2021 season.
Should the Rams pick Woodbey, he would be the second Boston College safety selected by the franchise since 2017, when the team took John Johnson III with the 91st overall pick.
