Lucky No.36? Past Picks Encouraging Sign For Rams
LOS ANGELES - Based on recent history, the Los Angeles Rams can land an elite-level player with the 36th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
Since 2013, there has been an abundance of top-level talent selected at No. 36, including Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr, Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard, San Francisco wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland.
Most recently in 2022, New York Jets running back Breece Hall was the pick at No. 36, and in his rookie campaign, he took the league by storm early on, rushing for 463 yards and four scores through his first seven games, before tearing his ACL.
Slay, has made five Pro Bowls and was a First-Team AP All-Pro in 2017. Slay led the NFL in interceptions that same season. In 2017 and 2020, Baker was named First-Team AP All-Pro. Baker has also been selected to the Pro Bowler five times in six years.
In 2021, Samuel received the honor of First-Team All-Pro and was selected to participate in his first Pro Bowl. Meanwhile, Leonard secured a $99.25 million, five-year contract with the Colts and earned his third Pro Bowl appearance.
During the 2022 season, Holland topped the Dolphins' stats with 77 solo tackles and two interceptions.
Suffice it to say, while a first-round pick would be ideal for the rebuilding Rams, there will be plenty of talent to be had at the No. 36 pick. And If Los Angeles receives the caliber of play that any of these players gave their respective teams, it will be a big win for the franchise.
