Rams Accomplished Primary Goal in Performance vs. Giants: 'Just Win'

The Los Angeles Rams did not pass the eye test on Sunday against the New York Giants, but they passed the only test that mattered: the scoreboard.

If you're a Los Angeles Rams fan, you may not feel overjoyed following Sunday's 26-25 win over the New York Giants, but you probably should.

The Rams were far from perfect on Sunday, honestly airing more on the side of "disastrous" at times, but when the clock hit all zeroes, Los Angeles was on top, and that's all that matters at this stage of the season.

L.A. entered Sunday's game with one goal: win and hope for a Seahawks loss. Even if Seattle wins this week, the Rams still control their own playoff destiny after taking down the Giants in an ugly fashion, and a one-point win (no matter how nerve-wracking) counts the same as a 30-point blowout.

Simply put, "just win," and that's what the Rams have been doing since they came back from their bye week.

Los Angeles has now won six of its last seven games, and its lone loss came on the road to the current Super Bowl favorite Baltimore Ravens in overtime. After a 3-6 start to the campaign, there is a real, real chance (likelihood?) that the Rams will end up in the playoff field and that in itself is a borderline miracle.

You can talk about "momentum" and "style points" heading into the postseason, but in reality, those don't matter. What matters are wins and losses, and Los Angeles has made a habit of picking up more of the former and less of the latter in recent weeks, including in Week 17.

Rams Survive Giants, Retain Control of Playoff Destiny

If you're a Rams fan, it may not have been pretty or enjoyable to watch, but the final result should make you feel pretty good entering the final week of the regular season. Now, you can relax for a while and enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday. After all, you kind of deserve it after this one.
