Los Angeles Rams Hold Sizable Lead Over Division Rival Arizona Cardinals at Halftime
The Los Angeles Rams hold a 21-8 lead over the Arizona Cardinals at halftime of Sunday's road game, seeing three passing scores from Matthew Stafford in the first two quarters.
The Rams struck first in the game on a seven-yard pass from Stafford to Higbee in the first quarter, but the Cardinals were able to respond with a touchdown and two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead entering the second frame. Los Angeles was able to counterpunch, however, and Stafford connected with Higbee for a score again, this time from five yards out to claim a 14-8 lead.
Coming out of the two-minute warning, the Cardinals attempted to convert a fourth and two from their own 48-yard line and failed on an incomplete pass from Kyler Murray. The Rams answered by using the short field to give Stafford his third passing touchdown of the day, this time to running back Kyren Williams to make the score 21-8.
Another failed drive by the Cardinals gave the Rams the ball with less than 50 seconds remaining in the half, but Stafford was intercepted with 15 seconds remaining to end the threat. Arizona was able to push across a Matt Prater field goal as time expired, but the kick was nullified due to a penalty, keeping the score at 21-8.
So far in the game, Stafford has completed 18 passes for 187 yards with three scores and one pick. Kyren Williams leads the Rams in rushing with 64 yards, and Tutu Atwell is the leading receiver with 76 yards.
As a team, the Rams have amassed 287 yards of total offense compared to Arizona's mark of 102. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is 8-of-17 through the air for 65 yards.
The Rams received the ball to start the game, so they will kick off to Arizona to begin the second half of play. You can follow along for live updates from the second half here as L.A. looks to secure its second straight win within the confines of the NFC West.
