Los Angeles Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens Live In-Game Updates, Highlights: Rams Lose 37-31

The Los Angeles Rams will have one of their toughest tasks of the season when they face the Baltimore Ravens on the road in Week 14. Can they overcome the talent deficit?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams have hit their stride by playing complementary football against bad (or badly injured) teams. They’ll look to do so again on Sunday against arguably the most complete team in the NFL.

For the last three weeks, the Rams have played like one of the best teams in the sport. The Baltimore Ravens have done that all season long.

Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, who dealt with an illness this week, is a full go for Week 14, meaning he’s a problem. Los Angeles’ pass rush has stepped up, but against a better offensive line and the most dangerous dual threat in the league, it’s no guarantee that the hot streak continues. Expect star lineman Aaron Donald to impact the pocket from the interior, putting athletic linebackers and edge rushers in position to corral the quarterback. Their ability to do so will be telling.

On the other side of the ball, running back Kyren Williams is in for an opportunity to both keep this Rams offense afloat and add to his euphoric sophomore season. Becoming one-dimensional against Baltimore -- one of the league’s elite defenses -- is a death sentence. Explosive plays haven’t been the norm for Williams, but breaking off enough to lighten the weight on quarterback Matthew Stafford’s shoulders is imperative.

Stafford will be dealing with a receiving corps that is not at 100 percent, regardless of who is active on Sunday. Receiver Cooper Kupp has struggled in the back half of the 2023 season and is dealing with an ankle ailment. Thus, he looked to rookie Puka Nacua. The BYU product is stellar but suffered an AC joint sprain last week.

Rams Elevate Packers Ex Mason Crosby vs. Ravens

It’s a lot to ask for him to be the lead man, but he’s looked the part as the league’s newest star receiver. It’s really hard to beat Super Bowl contenders without stars showing up. They’ll need to do so on Sunday.

FIRST QUARTER

Ravens First Drive: Baltimore received the opening kickoff.

They opened the festivities featuring running backs Gus Edwards and Keaton Mitchell for four of five plays on the drive.

They would elect to punt in a fourth-and-short situation.

Rams First Drive: The Kyren Williams Show has returned as he saw the first four rushes of Los Angeles' afternoon. Backup Royce Freeman made an appearance for a short gain, too.

Los Angeles ran the ball nine times to begin the drive, moving the ball into the red zone. The Rams threw three consecutive passes in a goal-to-go situation but came up empty. They'll settle for a field goal.

The Rams lead 3-0 with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter.

Ravens Second Drive: Former Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made a nice adjustment to haul in a 20-yard pass.

However, the drive would not last much longer. The Ravens punted after three incompletions.

Rams Second Drive: Stafford found his first completion targeting Nacua for 17 yards. He'd find the rookie again, but on third-and-7, took a sack, leading to a punt.

Ravens Third Drive: Tight end Isaiah Likely found himself wide open on a coverage bust, and Jackson found him for a 54-yard touchdown on the drive's third play.

The Rams trail 7-3 with 25 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Rams Third Drive: Right tackle Rob Havenstein is questionable to return with a hip injury. Baltimore safety Kyle Hamilton walked off the field with an injury as well.

The Rams trail 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

An unnecessary roughness call on Rams safety Marcus Williams tacked on 15 yards to a 22-yard gain from Demarcus Robinson.

Kupp then found himself a 27-yard catch to set Los Angeles up near the goal line. The veteran receiver would end the drive with an impressive touchdown grab.

The Rams lead 10-7 with 12:01 remaining in the second quarter.

Ravens Fourth Drive: Jackson gained 11 yards on a scramble that saw him weave through seemingly the entire Rams defense.

The defense would allow another Baltimore receiver through cracks in the secondary. Beckham saw an easy 48-yard touchdown after streaking free and adjusting to a slightly underthrown ball.

The Rams trail 14-10 with 9:40 remaining in the second quarter.

Rams Fourth Drive: Los Angeles quickly stalled, resulting in what looked like a three-and-out. An offsides call on the punt would extend the drive.

The Rams would make good on the second chance when Stafford hit Nacua for 34 yards. The next play would target receiver Tutu Atwell, who took a hard hit.

Defensive pass interference would bring them into the red zone, and tight end Davis Allen found his first career touchdown.

The Rams lead 17-14 with 5:07 remaining in the second quarter.

Ravens Fifth Drive: The Los Angeles defense finally made a play. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon intercepted Jackson downfield to give the Rams the football around midfield.

Rams Fifth Drive: Los Angeles had a third-and-short opportunity but was pushed back 15 yards on an offensive low block penalty. Yet, Stafford connected with Allen on a dump-off that gained 19 yards and a new set of downs.

A miscommunication on third down would stifle the drive. Kicker Lucas Havrisik would hit his 51-yard attempt to extend the league.

The Rams lead 20-14 with 1:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Ravens Sixth Drive: Receiver Nelson Agholor moved the chains with a 12-yard catch and saw another eight yards on the next play.

Jackson scampered for some more yards and a few plays later somehow evaded a Donald sack, though the pass was dropped.

Credit to Los Angeles, Jackson has been heavily pressured for the duration of the drive. However, the Ravens were still able to work themselves into the red zone, culminating in a Justin Tucker field goal.

The Rams lead 20-17 with nine seconds remaining in the first half.

HALFTIME

THIRD QUARTER

Rams Sixth Drive: Los Angeles' first drive out of the break would fail to net a new set of downs.

Ravens Seventh Drive: Mitchell ripped off an explosive gain of 27 yards on the ground.

Runs were plentiful on Baltimore's opening drive of the half, but on third-and-2, a Jackson pass fell incomplete. The Ravens opted to tie the game with a field goal.

The Rams are tied 20-20 with 10:02 remaining in the third quarter.

Rams Seventh Drive: Los Angeles lost yards on the first two plays of the drive on a poor run and a Stafford sack. A pass interference call would give them a first down.

The ensuing set of downs would be fruitless, leading to another punt.

Ravens Eighth Drive: Chaos! The Rams took the lead on third-and-5 when a snap went awry and into the end zone.

The Rams lead 22-20 with 5:54 remaining in the third quarter.

Rams Eighth Drive: A 32-yard catch and run for Kupp brought Los Angeles deep into Ravens territory. On third-and-7, Williams lost eight yards.

The next play would be pushed back by a delay of game call, making a field goal more difficult. The Rams would elect to punt.

Ravens Ninth Drive: Jackson opened the drive with a 16-yard scramble. After a five-yard run from Mitchell, rookie receiver Zay Flowers moved the chains.

The Rams lead 22-20 at the end of the third quarter.

Jackson's first completion of the quarter went to Likely for 11 yards. His second was a 17-yard gain to Beckham.

Jackson would scramble again but wasn't able to move the chains, setting up a Tucker field goal.

The Rams trail 23-22 with 11:17 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Rams Ninth Drive: The Rams were unable to answer back, missing two deep shots and rushing for just two yards.

Ravens Tenth Drive: Baltimore was not able to take advantage, punting the ball to Los Angeles after a three-and-out.

Rams Tenth Drive: Williams had a 16-yard rush that narrowly missed becoming a long touchdown. The Rams made up for it soon after when Nacua made an incredible diving catch for 23 yards.

Soon after, Kupp would haul in a 12-yard to set up a goal-to-go situation. A Robinson score would give Los Angeles the lead, but the two-point attempt was not successful.

The Rams lead 28-23 with 4:41 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Ravens Eleventh Drive: Jackson somehow managed to gain 12 yards on a scramble after dancing around in the backfield.

A couple of timely completions would help the Ravens approach the red zone. Inside the two-minute warning, an incomplete pass was overturned and turned into a sack.

On the next play, Jackson answered back with a strike to Flowers and six points. He'd make an exceptional play, again to Flowers, for the two-point conversion.

The Rams trail 31-28 with 1:16 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Rams Eleventh Drive: A 19-yard catch from Robinson would get the drive going, but a 34-yard catch for Kupp would bring them into the red zone.

Allen caught a checkdown before Stafford was almost intercepted in the end zone. Head coach Sean McVay was then forced to waste the Rams' final timeout after the play call was not received effectively.

Havrisik would tie the game in the quarter's final seconds. The Ravens will kneel and take this one to overtime.

The Rams are tied 31-31 at the end of regulation.

OVERTIME

Ravens Twelfth Drive: The Rams came up with a big defensive stop and forced a punt.

Rams Twelfth Drive: A couple of incompletions and a delay of game would lead to a punt. Tylan Wallace returned the punt for a touchdown, ending the game and Los Angeles' win streak.

The Rams fall to the Ravens 37-31.
