‘Cam Charisma!’ Rams RB Akers 'Exudes Leadership’ - Coach Sean McVay

Sean McVay offers praise to Cam Akers and his ability to step into a leadership role this offseason.

Entering his fourth season, Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers appears poised for a good year because of a growing attribute.

Meanwhile, he's making strides with his leadership as well. Coach Sean McVay detailed how Akers has stepped up and taken on more of a leadership role within the team.

“I’ve loved the way that he’s exuded leadership in that room, but also for our team in general,” McVay said. "Cam’s got a natural charisma and a presence about him that people are drawn to and when he’s got the right vibe and the right energy, that’s a real positive thing for our team."

Even though he started in just nine games for the Rams in 2022, Akers really started to pick up steam to end the season. He recorded 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, with 345 of those yards and three of the touchdowns coming in the final three weeks of the season.

The Rams are one of the more intriguing teams to watch in 2023, especially as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 5-12 showing.

Akers, if he can stay completely healthy, has the potential to be one of the better running backs in the NFL. Beyond that, though, his increased leadership role might positively impact the Rams. And if he and they have that “right vibe”? Maybe a rebound season for the Rams is in store.
