Los Angeles Rams Coach Sean McVay Provides 'Challenging' Injury Update on Kyren Williams, Ronnie Rivers
News broke on Monday that Los Angeles Rams running backs Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers could be forced to miss playing time with injuries sustained in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and head coach Sean McVay provided an update to media members on their status on Monday.
“Yeah, those guys are going to be out for a little bit," McVay said. "Exactly how long, we're kind of working through, but it's tough. That's tough information for both those guys who have done a really good job and for our team, obviously.”
Although there is no official timeline for the backs' return to the playing field, McVay believes it will be difficult for them in the coming days and weeks as they attempt to rebound from this setback.
“I'll have a little bit more for you guys probably on Wednesday," McVay said. "It's just the day after the game, and so they're kind of coming in, and you're going through your standard operating procedures. But the initial prognosis looks like it's going to be challenging for those guys in the immediate future.”
Williams, who ran for 158 yards and a score vs. Arizona, suffered an ankle injury late, and according to reports is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday. Rivers is also set to undergo an MRI on Monday after suffering what the Rams reportedly believe to be a PCL sprain.
With both likely missing Sunday's game vs. the Steelers, rookie Zach Evans could get the nod as the starter.
