Rams Coach Sean McVay Joins NFL Competition Committee
At the upcoming Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, the NFL Competition Committee will welcome two new members to its ranks.
The league announced that Rams head coach Sean McVay and Bills head coach Sean McDermott have been added to the committee.
Their appointment fills two of the three vacant seats, previously held by Ron Rivera, Frank Reich, and Mike Vrabel, who were all dismissed by their respective teams during or after the 2023 season.
In addition to coaches, the committee's thorough deliberation process incorporates insights from experts, clubs, players, league committees, the NFL Players Association, and various other sources.
Assigned with reviewing all competitive aspects of the game, including potential rule changes, player safety, officiating matters, technological advancements, roster regulations, and other aspects of gameday operations, the committee holds a pivotal role in shaping the NFL landscape.
Kickoffs and the potential prohibition of hip-drop tackles are among the topics scheduled for discussion this offseason.
The committee's adjustments take place just a week before their gathering in Indianapolis to conduct their annual evaluation.
