Los Angeles Rams Coach Sean McVay Wishes WR Van Jefferson 'Nothing But the Best' Following Trade

The Los Angeles Rams parted ways with wide receiver Van Jefferson this week, sending him to the Atlanta Falcons via trade.

Van Jefferson may no longer be a part of the Los Angeles Rams roster, but there seem to be no hard feelings on the part of L.A. after his departure.

Jefferson was traded to the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, and although he has not put up the same production the Rams saw in 2021, he did have some special moments with the franchise. Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay expressed his appreciation for Jefferson in media availability on Wednesday.

"Starting off, just want to wish Van Jefferson nothing but the best," McVay said. "We've had great communication and dialogue. He is a special person. He's a special player. This was something that we had kind of talked about the possibility of and felt like it was able to work out for both sides.

"I know he's excited about the opportunity to go contribute in Atlanta, and I got a ton of respect for (Falcons head coach) Arthur Smith. Have a great relationship with (Falcons offensive coordinator) Dave Ragone. He was somebody that they had been interested in, and it worked out, and Van was excited about that opportunity, but he did a great job for us here."

According to McVay, it seems that both the Rams and Jefferson were on the same page regarding the trade, and the two sides parted ways amicably.

"I love Van and I was grateful for the conversations and the clarity that we had going into that," McVay said. "I know he's excited about that and just appreciative of him."

The Rams are in preparation to host the Arizona Cardinals this week, while Jefferson and the Falcons will play host to the Washington Commanders.
